We are a full-time business and have over 90% repeat customers. We offer two and three-day pheasant hunting packages based out of Mitchell, South Dakota. With our service, you can enjoy a South Dakota outdoors experience, but come back to town each evening after a great day of hunting. After a delicious evening dinner included in our package, you are free to enjoy a night out on the town with the guys or relax in your own private room or our group hospitality room. With our service, you and your group members are not held “hostage” at a lodge which may not meet your expectations.
When we say we hunt WILD pheasants, we mean it. Our birds are not released, they are hatched and grow up in the wild. We pride ourselves in providing World Class wild pheasant hunting for over 35 years. We have exclusive rights to hunting land in the top pheasant producing counties in south central South Dakota. Mike Kuchera has an extensive knowledge of pheasant habitat and works closely with many landowners to develop the best pheasant and wildlife habitat on their farms. Mike is known for his ability to organize and orchestrate the hunts with a strong emphasis on safety in the field.

We offer only one complete package which is priced either as a two or three day hunt for groups from 8 to 18 people, and we can put individuals and smaller groups together to enjoy a hunt as well. You will have deluxe accommodations across from Cabela’s in Mitchell, breakfast at the hotel, a delicious hot field lunch buffet, and a mouth-watering steak, walleye and roast pheasant dinner with wine for your evening meal. The hunting package also includes a trapshooting warm-up and professionally cleaned and packaged pheasants. Our service has full-time staff and Mike Kuchera personally guides all of his hunts along with a professional dog handler of well-trained Labrador retrievers.
On our hunts it is very common to see 200 to 300 wild pheasants each day of the hunt. We hunt within a 50 miles radius of Mitchell. We hunt in a traditional walk and block style of hunting and have prime habitat hunting at a different farm or area each day of the hunt. Our hunts are very organized, allowing everyone involved to enjoy the hunt.
The topography of the land we hunt is mostly flat and occasionally will have a little roll to it. The bird cover is a variety of different habitat such as tree shelterbelts with food plots (corn, cane or milo mix) alongside or in good cover in low lying areas in the cropland fields. Pheasants like weeds such as cochia and sweet clover so you will find them hanging out in this cover part of the day. We do have some areas we will hunt which are mainly grass such as switch grass, reed canary grass, and big blue stem grass.
We do not hunt the same area twice during your two or three day hunt as we hunt only wild pheasants and have not had to supplement with released birds in our many years of hunting since 1972. Mike prides himself on keeping the traditional way of pheasant hunting alive. Mike Kuchera personally guides all of his hunts so you will not have to worry about finding birds as "he will get you into some wild birds."
