We will fly from Boston, Massachusetts to Glasgow, Scotland, and be
escorted by coach to Castle Douglas, staying at the Urr Valley
Country House Hotel. This stately hotel has a warm atmosphere,
which reflects the country-like friendly personality of the Scottish
people. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished in an old-fashioned, country
decor, with modern facilities. We will be served delicious meals
at the hotel which has a quaint bar where we can gather to reminisce
each day's shoot. The hotel is situated in a beautiful setting
overlooking a very picturesque view.

Simon and Annie Ingall have bestowed upon us the privilege of shooting
on their private estate of 3,000 acres. They have their own full-time guides and
private gamekeeper.
A little about the shooting -- driven pheasants provide some of
the most testing sporting shots of all the game birds. A team of
well drilled beaters walk the woods in order to drive the birds over
the guns. In this traditional shooting, only 12/20 bore over-and-under,
or side-by-side shotguns can be used. Four wheel drive vehicles transport
you between stands of which there are usually six to eight.
Trained gun dogs behind you ensure that all your hit birds are
picked speedily. Each day of the driven bird shoot, we will bag
an average of 150-200 cocks and hens. During the driven-bird
shoots, we will have our morning teas, hot cooked lunches and afternoon
teas in a truly splendid and noble Scottish mansion built in the
1800's, which has been in the Ingall family for generations.
We will be rough-shooting one of the days. This type of shooting
is simply walking with a guide and dogs, flushing pheasants,
having an opportunity to take in the breathtaking beauty of
the land while having a blast shooting cocks and hens.
We shoot for awhile and break for a morning tea, and then shoot
until a noon lunch and go out again in the afternoon.
It is great fun and exhilarating.

join us on our next journey to Scotland.
